Bajo la dirección
del Dr. Mick Godkin, del Club Rotario de Westborough, se obtuvo otra
subvención igual de $15.000 con el Club Rotario de León en
Nicaragua, la que permitió a GEMINI hacer una entrega de equipo y
capacitación durante 5 días a la Universidad Autónoma de Nicaragua,
Facultad de Ciencias Médicas en León (UNAN-León) y a su hospital
universitario. Los instructores que realizaron el entrenamiento
están certificados por la Asociación Americana del Corazón (American
Heart Association) y constó de tres instructores de la Universidad
de Massachusetts, la Dra. Mariah McNamara, Jorge Yarzebski, hijo,
NREMTP y Club Rotario de Westborough, y el enfermero especializado Roy Clifford,
dos instructores de Méjico y uno de Texas. Veinte médicos y un
estudiante de medicina de la UNAN recibieron capacitación en BLS y
ACLS. Los 21 pasaron la prueba de la Asociación Americana del
Corazón (AHA) certificándose en BLS; 17 de 21 pasaron el examen de
ACLS y obtuvieron la certificación de la Asociación Americana del
Corazón en ACLS. Catorce de los diez y siete luego hicieron el curso
para certificarse como instructores de la Asociación Americana del
Corazón (AHA) en ACLS y BLS. Estos ya son
instructores.
A nuestros lectores: Queremos que tantos amigos como sea posible lean nuestros informes, por eso ofrecemos esta traducción. --------------------- Under the guidance of Mick Godkin, Ph.D, of the Rotary Club of Westborough, a $15,000 Matching Grant with the Rotary Club of Leon, Nicaragua allowed GEMINI to deliver equipment and training over 5 days at the Autonomous University of Nicaragua’s Faculty of Medical Sciences in Leon (UNAN-Leon) and at its teaching hospital. The trainers were all American Heart Association-certified trainers and consisted of 3 trainers from UMass (Mariah McNamara MD, Jorge Yarzebski Jr NREMTP (and the Rotary Club of Westborough), and Roy Clifford NP), 2 from Mexico and 1 from Texas. Twenty physicians and one UNAN medical student were trained in BLS and ACLS and all 21 passed the AHA test to become AHA certified in BLS; 17/21 passed the ACLS test and are AHA certified in ACLS. Fourteen of the 17 then did the course for to become AHA-certified ACLS and BLS trainers which they now are. Project photos Here are photos
